Action/ thriller film research 5

Thor

Storyline summary:
The powerful but arrogant god Thor is cast out of Asgard to live amongst humans in Midgard (Earth), where he soon becomes one of their finest defenders.

Characters:
Donald Blake (Thor) - He is a doctor who, on a trip to Scandinavia, found Mjolnir, the magical Norse hammer. When he picked it up, he transformed into Thor, the Norse God of Thunder. Now, whenever trouble arises, he taps his cane in the ground and becomes Thor.Thor has super-strength, super-speed, invulnerability, the ability to fly and the ability to control lightning. He is a member of the superhero group the Avengers.
Mise-en-Scene:

The costumes used in this scene look medieval and this suggests the time period of the film.
the weapons used also suggest the time period because they are not modern and are mostly hand to had combat. The method of travel into battle is horse which is a old traditional method which shows a lack of development in technology.

Music:

The music is very emotive and passionate which makes the film more dramatic and suggests emotional content. the music is heavily textured meaning there are allot of instruments playing at once which builds tension linking to the content of the film another aspect which adheres to this would be the heavy orchestral drums which also give a military feel which suggests action.

Iconography:
Thor's red cape has connotations of super hero like features which can make the viewer believe he is a super hero, it even has positive connotations because it is generally seen as a 'good' character's item of clothing. The cape was originally designed in comics to make the images look dynamic and to give a smother, flowing appearance.
